An 18-year-old Johnson Lane man, who admitted burglarizing his own home while his family slept, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine at his sentencing Oct. 14.
I broke into the houses and stole, Kyle Liddicoat told District Judge Dave Gamble.
Liddicoats demeanor was so lackadaisical, Gamble asked him if he was on medication that would interfere with understanding the proceedings.
Do you have a clue what youre doing here? Earth to Kyle, Gamble said. Do you give a dang about it? Have you learned anything in all the years Ive known you?
Liddocoat originally was charged with eight felonies in connection with the nighttime burglaries that occurred July 7-16. In a plea agreement with the district attorneys office, he is pleading guilty to two.
I jumped over the fence and snuck in the bedroom window. I knew where all the guns were. I went in the computer room, I stole a wallet, pawned a gun and threw the others away. And, I threw away the wallet, Liddicoat said.
At the second house his own Liddicoat said he walked into his parents bedroom, stole guns and money and pawned some of the items.
As part of the plea agreement, the district attorney agreed to a recommendation of regimental discipline camp run by the Nevada Department of Corrections if Liddicoat is eligible.
Liddicoat has been in Douglas County Jail on $25,000 bail since his arrest.
A warrant has been issued for Jacob Lacey, 19, described as Liddicoats accomplice in the burglaries.
According to reports, the break-ins in the Johnson Lane, Wildhorse and Stephanie Way residences occurred while the occupants were asleep.
The suspects gained access through unlocked windows and doors.
According to reports, Douglas County sheriffs Investigator Jon Storke obtained confessions from both suspects.
During the course of his investigation, Storke discovered that Liddicoat had committed three additional residential burglaries in the Johnson Lane area which were not part of the original case.
Approximately three-quarters of the estimated $10,000 worth of property from all the crimes has been recovered and returned to the rightful owners, according to reports.
Anyone having information on the whereabouts of Lacey is asked to call Storke at 782-9909.
Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Secret Witness at 782-7463.
