The Carson City Symphony begins rehearsals for the 2007-08 season, 7:15-9:30 p.m. Aug. 27, at the Carson High School band room. The season includes five concerts in Carson City and one in Fallon, all featuring guest soloists or groups.
The first concert on Oct. 26 features pianist Alexander Tutunov who will play Gershwins Piano Concerto in F with the orchestra. Hoe-down from Aaron Coplands Rodeo and Symphony No. 35 by Mozart are also on the program.
Carson City Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, is a community orchestra of about 55 players who perform music from the 15th to 21st centuries. It is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available. Current openings are for strings, horn, trombone, and possibly other instruments.
Musicians interested in joining should contact the symphony at 883-4154.
