Plant closing: The R-C Morning Report

Polyphaser moving to Idaho

Polyphaser is closing its Minden plant to consolidate it with the one in Hayden, Idaho. Polyphaser employs more than 100 people here making surge protection for cell towers and similar devices. A spokeswoman for the company said some employees of the Minden plant will offered positions in Idaho. The plant is not expected to close until August 2009, a year from now.

We're having a heat wave

We may see some records fall this weekend as temperatures continue to soar past the century mark. The National Weather Service has issued an advisory to expect temperatures between 100 and 105 degrees through Saturday with highs in the Sierra climbing into the lower 90s. If you’re outside working or playing, remember to drink lots of water.

Elementary bus schedule in Friday

Douglas elementary schools start next week. Look for the bus schedule in Friday’s edition of The Record-Courier.

Careful with fire

With the heat comes lower humidity and a pretty good chance that if there a spark there will be a fire. The East Fork Fire and Weather Report on Wednesday morning listed a 100 percent chance of ignition, so be careful with fire.
