A burial with full military honors is Tuesday at the Woodfords Indian Cemetery for Washoe Tribe Ranch Manager Russell “Andy” McDonald, 60, who died July 2, 2008, while performing his duties.
A funeral service will precede the burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Dresslerville Community Center.
Born July 26, 1947 in Dresslerville, Mr. McDonald graduated from Stewart Indian High School in 1966 and immediately went into the U.S. Army for three years during the Vietnam conflict.
Mr. McDonald was a respected man of the community and the entire Valley.
Mr. McDonald was a member of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California, an honorable member of the Washoe Tribal Council, member of Washoe Development Enterprises and was vice chairman of the Dresslerville Community Council.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Leona McDonald, daughter Cheryl Lynn McDonald, sister Madrene Evans and niece Donna Koos.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Gloria McDonald; son Curtis Cloud of Gardnerville; daughters Lisa Sam of Gardnerville and Stephanie Ridley of Carson City; brothers Wilford, Roger and Calvin McDonald, all of Dresslerville; sisters Justine Koos, Carolyn Ewing, Charlotte McDonald and Madeline McDonald all of Gardnerville; Jeanette Blevins of San Diego; granddaughters, Tia and Jolyn Sam, Alyssa Ridley and grandson Bryce Ridley.
Arrangements are in the care of Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
