Gardnerville Ranchos resident Kevin Bodily was standing at his kitchen window on Sunday afternoon when he saw a large swirling cloud of dust heading right for him.

“I was at the window when I saw it coming,” he said. “I didn’t have time to think to do anything before it hit the house.”

Bodily said what appeared to be a twister hit his chicken coop and then lifted the roof off his patio and carried it over his house.

“There wasn’t any other breeze and the sky was clear,” he said. “I heard a sound like a freight train.”

Firefighters responded to the home at 1012 Tumbleweed Court to help Bodily and his family.

The roof damaged the front of his house and may have broken his window.

No one was hurt in the incident, which occurred between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

“I didn’t even think that something could have come through the window,” he said.
