Football: 6 Tigers headed to Sertoma game

Print Comment
Six senior Douglas football players will have their careers extended for at least one more game.

Running back Brock Peterson, linebackers Brandon Lowrance and Luke Wartgow, linemen Mike Colyer and Curtis Hartzell and tight end/defensive tackle Jeff Nady were all invited to play in the 27th annual Sertoma Classic all-star football game.

The game is scheduled for June 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Nevada’s Mackay Stadium.

The Douglas players will be playing on the Blue team, coached by Yerington’s Cody Neville. The Silver team will be coached by Reno’s Dan Avansino.

“I know every one of those guys are excited about playing,” Douglas coach Mike Rippee said. “It’s a neat experience to be able to get one last high school game in before it’s all done.”
