Print Comment
During three weeks in April and May, Project Santa Claus and the Douglas County Public Library co-sponsored a handout of new books to all children, 15 and under whose parents used the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.
Project Santa Claus started the "New Books for Kids" program during the Christmas season of 2000. The "Christmas in the Spring" book hand-out was started in 2001. People in Douglas County have supported of this program by donating children's books and funds to purchase books.
Public Services Coordinator for the Library Linda Wilson assisted with the donation of book bags, bookmarks and information regarding the Library including Story Time and the Teen programs.
By the end of the program approximately 225 children received these materials thanks thanks to support for Project Santa Claus and the Douglas County Public Library.
