Tahoe activist files for school board
Kingsbury Middle School closure critic Greg Felton has filed for Cindy Trigg’s Area 3 seat on the Douglas County School Board of Trustees. Felton filed for the seat on Tuesday, creating the second race for school board. Also filing on Tuesday was Area 1 School Board Trustee Karen Chessell. Chessell is the third person to sign up for that seat, forcing the first primary in the election. Also, Robin Bernhard is the fourth person who has filed for Gardnerville Town Board.

Warming up fast
Overnight lows in the valleys this weekend aren’t going to drop much below 55 degrees according to the National Weather Service, which could set records for highest minimum temperatures. There won’t be much escape from the heat, which will climb into the mid-90s in the Valleys and the mid-80s in the Sierra.

Nice day today, though
We’re looking at 80 degrees and mostly sunny today. Wind gusts in the afternoon will hit 25 mph. On Thursday look to the high to hit 85.
