Extra patrols after lockdown
Douglas County deputies will be conducting extra patrols around the Lake Tahoe schools for the next few days in the wake of a report of a man wearing all black and carrying something that looked like a rifle prompted a lockdown on Thursday. Sgt. Jim Halsey said that while no one was found, authorities appreciated the report.

Sighting Thursday
Thursday was an odd day for sightings. There was a bear sighting at the Lake inside someone's house and just before the school sighting, someone reported seeing an emu wandering loose in the East Valley.Full moon's passed, so I don't know what's up.

Wind advisory kicks off this morning
A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. today until midnight as another cold front rolls through, according to the National Weather Service. Sustained winds of 15-30 mph with gusts of 45 mph will be widespread, with gusts of up to 60 mph in the wind-prone areas. The strongest winds will be along the Highway 395 corridor from the North Valleys to Minden and the passes. Ridge gusts could hit 90 mph.

Better than slight chance of showers
The chance of showers right around 5 p.m. has increased to 40 percent, but forecasters aren’t expecting a lot of rain from the storm. The probability for precipitation goes way down on Saturday morning and once the wind’s done blowing, we might have a relatively nice weekend.
