Diabetes camp for children in the Tahoe community

Provided to the Tribune

For children living with diabetes, every day is a challenge.

The Barton HealthCare System Foundation Diabetes Fund gives children with diabetes living in the Tahoe community the opportunity to attend a camp for children with diabetes.

The Diabetes Camp also:

-- Helps kids with diabetes develop self-reliance and self-worth

-- Helps kids learn that diabetes does not control their lives; they can take control of their diabetes

-- Helps kids look forward to healthier futures

Barton Diabetes Educational Services will accept scholarship applications through April 23 for financial assistanc.

Application for camp registration is made directly to the camp of choice.

Camps fill up quickly, so act now for fun later.

For an application for financial assistance contact Vicki McKenna at (530) 543-5548 or e-mail vmckenna@bartonhealth.org.

Also for those living with diabetes, the Diabetes Support Group is a private, confidential format committed to providing education and encouragement for persons, families, and friends with diabetes of all ages.

A fireside chat, complete with lots of warmth and hot cocoa has been scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. March 13 in the Barton Memorial Hospital board room. Vicki McKenna, will facilitate a discussion about living with diabetes. Participants are asked to bring a favorite inspirational quote. No charge, just a fun time.
