'Baby shower' will benefit children's center

Print Comment

A housewarming and baby shower in support of the Carson Valley Children's Center will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Carson Valley Children's Center and what it will mean to our community. Refreshments include fine wine hosted by the Tahoe Ridge Winery. Bring the children and visit with "Casey the Crocodile."

Everyone who attends will be entered into a raffle drawing for beautiful gift baskets.

Entrants do not have to be present to win.

The purpose of this housewarming and baby shower is to provide the materials needed to furnish the Carson Valley Children's Center properly.

There will be 10 bedrooms that need furniture, bedding, rugs, pictures, etc.

The public is invited to bring gifts and donations to fulfill these needs. The center is registered at Target, Wal-Mart and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

The Carson Valley Children's Center will soon be built in Northern Douglas County.

It will be a group foster home that will provide services and care for up to 10 children at one time between the ages of infant and 17.

The resident children will be referrals from child protective services, the courts, homeless children and other children who are in need of shelter.

The center is now in the process of obtaining building permits from Douglas County.

Contact Terry Palmitier at 782-6247 for more information, or visit the Web site www.cvchildrenscenter.org and click on "how to help."
